The 164th Carnival of Personal Finance is up at Squawkfox. She has done an awesome job in designing and presenting this huge event, and we’re thrilled to find Vicky’s rave about her job in the line-up. Once you get over admiring Squawkfox’s engaging photos, budget some time to read the great posts included in this week’s carnival. NCN has a baby in the hospital and is thanking his lucky stars (and his own good sense) that he’s out of debt, has his finances under control, and has an emergency fund that will help pay for the costs. The Money Answer Guy explains how he manages to live on $600 a month, go to college, and date a young woman! Wide Open Wallet lists five good ways to persuade yourself to save money. No Debt Plan describes his employer’s lackluster matching contributions to his 401(k) and ruminates heretically about discontinuing his 401(k) plan, spurring some very interesting comments about the merits and demerits of the Roth 401(k). And Victoria’s blog, Funny about Money, is also included with her squib, “Celebrate America: Shop Local.”
At Value for Your Life, the 71st Carnival of Money Stories includes Tina’s post, “An Ideal Job–for Moms.” This is her first participation in any carnival or festival! Some very nice photos appear with this carnival, too. While you’re there, check out Gather Little by Little’s post on “How to Be Rich,” a graceful and meaningful reflection. At The Personal Financier, Dorian Wales has a very scary story on the precarious financial position in which many (possibly most) Brits find themselves–something that probably applies to Americans, too. Funny about Money made Editor’s Pick in this carnival, with her rant about changes in her beloved employer’s health insurance options.
